Modica takes part of UNESCO Human Heritage, and is considered as the center of Southeast Sicily (it is 8 km away from Scicli, 12Km from Ragusa Ibla, 34 Km from Noto, 20Km from Pozzallo, 24 Km from Ispica). It is situated in the southern part of Monti Iblei and it is divided into two authentic parts: Upper Modica, which buildings seem to ascend the rocks of mountains, and down, in the valley, Lower Modica, where in the past were two rivers, which were then covered because of several floods, and where is now Corso Umberto, the main street and historical center of the town.
